Eugénio de Almeida Forum
A place dedicated to contemporary art and culture
The Eugénio de Almeida Forum is a venue created for artistic and cultural activities, promoted through exhibitions, conferences and workshops. Its main focus is contemporary art, as well as educational programmes targeting a wide spectrum of consumers.
The temporary exhibition area covers 1,200 m2 over two floors, with two other dedicated exhibition spaces: the Rostrum Room, for the latest trends and experimental projects, and the Atrium Room. There are also multi-purpose rooms, an auditorium, a meeting and conference centre, restaurant, cafetaria and wine bar and a shop. The outside area comprises the Páteo de Honra, Jardim Norte and Jardim das Casas Pintadas, whose gallery bears a rare example of a palatial mural painting from the late 16th century. The total area of the Forum covers some 3,000 m2.
The Fórum Eugénio de Almeida was endowed by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, as part of the scheme to regenerate and restore the city of Évora. The legacy includes the Inquisition Palace, the Casas Pintadas (Painted Houses) and the old Fórum Eugénio de Almeida.
